San Diego Architectural Foundation

On March 26, 2011 San Diego Architectural Foundation, San Diego's official host chapter of the Tokyo-based PechaKucha Night, will partner with Starwood San Diego, the San Diego Japanese Consulate, NBC San Diego, Sophie 103.7 and Discover SD to honor the recent tragedy in Japan as part of a very special “Earth Hour” ceremony. “Earth Hour” is an annual sustainability initiative that encourages people to drastically decrease energy usage for one full hour. This year’s “Earth Hour” carries with it a theme of global preservation, and a deep compassion for the recent tragedy in Japan.

W San Diego will host an “Earth Hour” gathering as a Starwood San Diego benefit for The American Red Cross relief efforts in Japan. At 7PM guests are invited to join together in the Living Room Lounge for hosted bites, drink specials, and donation opportunities for The American Red Cross. At 8PM, the lights will be turned off, and a very special acoustic performance by Ashley Matte will be performed by candlelight. Sophie 103.7’s “Afternoon Drive” DJ, Summer James will open Earth Hour at 8:30PM. NBC’s morning news anchor Marianne Kushi will lead the audience in a moment of silence, and assist the Starwood San Diego team in awarding a lump sum check to The American Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan. DJ Frankie M will perform at 9PM, and several entertainment options will follow throughout the evening. 100% of proceeds from food & beverage sold from 8:30PM-9:30PM in addition to a suggested donation at the door, will be donated directly to The American Red Cross relief efforts in Japan.

PechaKucha Night SD Volume 8 will be held on July 20, 2010 at Whistle Stop Bar. We've got another fantastic line-up. Consider that, refreshing Whistle Stop libations, and the fact that 10% of the bar is donated to the SDAF, and... well, you've got a good time on your hands!
